The first time I got my hair dyed, it was a blonde colour. I wanted highlights (and back then my mum was a bit of a hairdresser). Anyway, I was sitting there all happy, when I realised my mum was just plopping all the dye at once onto the front of my hair. I screamed so loudly, it’s a wonder the whole of England didn’t hear me.
I asked her what she was doing, and she was like ‘I’m lighting your hair’. GRRRR. She clearly missed the ‘high’ bit of the word. Anyway, thankfully, there was enough dye for the rest of my hair and I just ended up buying some brown dye to fill it in so that it did in fact look like I had highlights. Job accomplished.
