Valentines Competition Entrants: Top 10
We’ve had a fantastic response to our Valentines competition where we asked you to send in stories about your best and worst Valentine’s Days. It seems that there’s a lot of lotharios out there as well as some Valentine Duds. It was really difficult to whittle the entries down to our ten favourites but here they are. Stay tuned for the winner which we’ll announce over the weekend.
1: Entrant Name: Ileana Fernandes
Valentines Story: My best and worst valentines experience was a blind date I had with a friend of a friend. We had a nice date at the cinema and went to a restaurant after. Of course it being V day it was packed! I wanted to get up to go to the bathroom trying and failing miserably to act smoothly and sexily. I half lifted the table when my dress got caught and when it banged back down my soup spilled on my lovely white dress right in the area I did not want it to! To make matters worse, it was beetroot soup, because of course it had to be red for V day! So it looked like it was that time of the month. My date of course found this hilarious but it is a very funny story (3 years down the line!) of our first date!
2: Entrant Name: kelli flanagan
Valentines Story: I dont usually wear makeup but met my current partner on the 13th Feb 1999 so plastered lots of lippy & mascara on for our first date. He took me out for an Indian meal the following day and at the end of the meal the waiter brought over the hot towels so without thinking i wiped it over my face. The evening went very well and we spent ages chatting over a coffee. It wasnt till he dropped me home later that evening that i caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I had smudged the mascara all down my face and looked awful. Saying that 12 yrs & 2 daughters later we are still madly in love.

Valentines Story: My valentines day story is a bad one im afraid
a few years ago my boyfriend (now ex) booked a table in a local restaraunt and told me to meet him there at 8….So i went along told the waiter who i was and that the there was a reservation to which the lady took me to one side and said that my date had been in earlier in the evening and left a note for me i excitedly wripped the envelope open to discover a letter DUMPING ME yes he had decided that morning that it wasnt working and the spineless jerk let me get dolled up to go out and go to the restaurant to get dumped by letter instead of facing me!
4: Entrant Name: kushla pope
Valentines Story: i once had a boyfriend who signed my valentine’s card ‘all the best’. we didn’t last long….
5: Entrant Name: Jennifer Stokes
Valentines Story: My best Valentines present to my husband was finding out 3 years ago that we were expecting twins after 4 failed IVF attempts. His face was a picture!
6. Entrant Name: Emma L Clarke
Valentines Story: For St Valentine’s Day my boyfriend bought me a rape alarm. He said it ‘showed he cared’. Practical yes, romantic – no. I was absolutely gutted. For days after he kept asking me if ‘I had used it yet’ like it was a digital radio or a pair of hair straighteners. I dumped him on March 1st.
7: Entrant Name: Michelle Cronin
Valentines Story: my best valentines day was 3 years ago, I am a very lucky girl as my other half really went to town for a ‘stay at home’ Valentines Night. I came home to our conversatory decorated with love heart fairy lights, our dining table decorated with candles, rose petals, artfully folded napkins and a beautiful vase of 24 HAND MADE roses. My other half had spent two weeks sneakiley making roses from crepe paper and garden wire; his poor hands had the grazes and scrapes to prove it. Not only that – he had made a three course meal, including a handmade love heart strawberry cheesecake, my favorite!! He had made such a huge effort to make me feel special and I will always remember that !x
8: Entrant Name: hazel anna rigazio
Valentines Story: My wose valentines day was when my ex-boyfriend offerd me a gastric band surgery present.I am a size 14.I soon sent him packing and yes he was serious.
9: Entrant Name: M Joseph
Valentines Story: This is my tenth Valentines day with my husband and not one valentines day has he ever got me a card or a present. I thought our tenth would be different, I dropped so many hints, but nothing! I didn’t speak to him ALL day! Grrrr
10: Entrant Name: Rach Lines
Valentines Story: My worst valentines day was when I was a teen, the card came through the door – “To the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, lots of love, your admirer” I knew who it was from, but mum put it on the mantle after opening it and thought it was for her. She was so happy I didnt say anything, she teased me saying “Oh well I am sure you will get one next year!”

This year (after 12 years together) I received a card addressed to ? from ?
I think it was for mw but I can’t be sure.
