Hair is what we do best at the HairCare shop so we have put our heads together and come up with a look we consider the perfect partner to your vampy festive makeup. We have decided to go for an up-do to further emphasise the sophisticated feel of the vamp trend. The tools you will need to achieve this look are – a brush, Kirby grips, hair bobble and a hair dryer, see the HairCare Shop recommends section at the end for our selected products used.

Hair

This look is perfect for second day hair as we want the hair to have a bit of texture to it to aid the final style. First of all you have to mist your hair with a hair treatment or leave-in conditioner spray, then dry your hair with the hair dryer and a diffuser attachment or if you do not have one of them just tip your head upside down andscrunch dry.

Brush your hair gently as to not lose too much of the volume and pull the hair into a low side ponytail and secure with the hair bobble.

Take a section of hair from underneath the ponytail and wrap it round with the aim of concealing the bobble, then secure with a hair grip.

Gently backcomb the lengths of the hair in the pony tail to add texture then gently smooth the hair into place following the same principle as before being careful not to lose too much of the volume.

Wrap the lengths of the hair loosely around the band as if creating a bun and secure when you are happy with the final look, you can tease some strands out at this point if you would like a more relaxed look.

The final stage is a spritz of hairspray and you could also add your own accessories here, flower, clip etc…

Give you hair a final spritz of shine spray and you are ready to go.

This means that cleansing is ever more important in winter, make sure you get every scrap of make up off because a break out is worth avoiding at all costs.

If you have dull dehydrated skin what’s the answer? Exfoliation of course it is vitally important to get rid of all the dead skin particles that having dry skin brings a good exfoliator will be a god send in your winter skin care kit. Exfoliate once a week or more if necessary and enjoy brighter, fresher, healthier looking skin.
During the winter season it is as always imperative that you wear sun screen, why I hear you ask? Just because you can’t see the sun and it’s not splitting the sky doesn’t mean that the harmful UVA and UVB rays aren’t present. Protect yourself and use a good sun screen all year round, it will turn out to be one of your greatest weapons in the fight against aging.

Whether it be a gift, a treat to ourselves or an impulse buy perfume is a stalwart of many a woman’s dressing table and a man’s eh where do guys keep their aftershave, em wherever they lob it. Generally and I am the same the critique of a new perfume takes the form of, spray, shake around for a second, sniff, hmm and the oh I love that or eww no that’s not for me. Perfumes are a multi-layered complex product that take on a distinctly chemical process when you read about he manufacturing of fragrance. This article is an introduction to the different elements of perfume and the olfactory families to which they belong.

As I just mentioned most people view perfumes as just one scent whereas in reality perfumes are made up of different layers which each last a certain amount of time and when amalgamated together produce the desired final scent. These different layers are referred to as ‘notes’ because as in music when the individual notes are put together they ‘harmonise’ to produce the final effect. There are three notes present in the case of most fragrances:

Top Notes – these are the scents which are perceived immediately on smelling the perfume, the top notes tend to be small light molecules which last on the skin for one to three hours and evaporate after that relatively quickly. The top notes of a perfume are very important as these are what you base your initial opinions of the fragrance on.

Middle Notes – the scents of the middles notes will appear just before the last of the top notes dissipates, the middle notes are essential as they form the ‘heart’ of the perfume they tend to be mellow rounded scents. The middle notes of the perfume last for a much longer time than the top notes, around eight to fifteen hours.

Base Notes – the base notes of a fragrance appear close to the dissipation of the middle notes, together with the middle notes the base notes create the main theme of the perfume and are generally not perceived until the wearer has had the fragrance on for thirty minutes. Base notes add depth to the perfume some of the most common base notes are:

• patchouli
• sandalwood
• balsam
• leather

When it comes to perfume scent description, perfumes are categorised into families dependent on the elements from which the perfume is created. Here are some of the most common perfume families.

Floral Oriental – floral oriental fragrances are soft spicy and feminine these group of fragrances were first popular during the early 1900’s, before falling out of fashion in the 1930’s and a revival in the 1970’s. Perfumes in this category often have notes of flowers, woods and vanilla.
