One of the most commonly complained about skin care problems is the issue of dealing with skin that produces too much oil. This causes several problems mainly that it can give you the appearance of having shiny skin that needs blotting or powdering multiple times throughout the day. Secondly, having excessively oily skin can make it difficult to select and apply the correct base, many foundations and concealers will just slide off and have very poor staying power. Another more concerning side effect of oily skin is that is can cause your pores to becomes blocked a lot more easily heightening the chance of break outs and black heads.

Why do I have oily skin?

Oily skin is the result of over-active sebaceous glands, that produce too much of a substance called sebum which is a natural healthy skin lubricant. As you would imagine this leaves the skin with a shiny appearance and can make it feel weighed down and uncomfortable.
La Biosthetique

Since the 1950’s La Biosthetique have been perfecting the technology behind and have been committed to producing the very highest in standard of natural, luxury skin and hair care. Here at the HairCareShop we stock an extensive range of La Biosthetique products – there is a range that is specifically for oily/problematic skin, the ‘Methode Clarifante Range.’

This range has been specifically formulated to treat those that have oily or blemished skin – the range includes unique products such as soothing facial oils, cleansing lotions, cleansing gels and facial lotions.

“Methode Clarifante is a skin-regulating intensive skincare, which is based on special active substances, which normalise sebum production and clarify the skin, improve the skin’s metabolism and moisturise the skin. Liquorice root and oak moss extracts have a calming, antibacterial effect. Skin inflammations are quickly reduced. Your skin’s pores are refined and your skin looks clearer and fresher (www.biosthetique.com).”

The Methode Clarifante range from La Biosthetique will soothe, calm and reduce inflammation; the intensive effect of the marine algae-based active ingredient complex will also mattify and diminish the visibility of enlarged pores. Even more fantastic is that the whole range is available for you to buy in a matter of clicks from the HairCareShop!

One of the HairCareShop’s most talked about and sought after products are the Freedom 24:7 cordless straightener. Oh wait a minute…did we also tell you that The Freedom 24:7 was also featured in wait for it…Glamour Magazine and endorsed by none other than Dannii Minogue!! Sorry for the double exclamation but this is very exciting news! Not only that, but yours truly got a mention as the chosen stockist of Freedom 24:7 hair straightners, now if you ever needed any encouragement to buy some there it is!

The Freedom 24:7 straightener is indeed cordless, it’s lightweight so easily portable and does not take up a lot of space when you are packing, it’s chargeable and it gives you a whopping 60 minutes of use before you need to charge it again! Considering the size of the product this is pretty impressive!

Freedom 24:7 Straighteners £59.50

What else do you need to know about the Freedom 24:7 straightener, how are they so effective? Given the small size of this product you would be forgiven for thinking that the actual straightening irons themselves would not be very effective, well I hate to say it but you’d be mistaken. The Freedom 24:7 comes with ceramic plates to ensure a super smooth glide when you are straightening your hair and they are very quick to use heating up in just 15 seconds meaning that you can straightening your hair on the go is quick, easy and effective.

At HairCareShop our main interest is the health and maintenance of shiny, conditioned healthy hair and we always advise that you use a heat protectant before using any type of heated styling tool on your hair so we thought we’d give you one for free!

When you buy the Freedom 24:7 straightener from HairCareShop, which I’m sure is the only place that you would consider going for your affordable, luxury, hair care products (wink, wink . You not only get the straightners available in black, red or pink but you also get a free heat protectant spray with your purchase.

We may have missed festival season with Bestival one of the last taking place last weekend, where this product is really useful and has been used by many to avoid the complete dragged through several bushes look. Freedom 24:7 straightners would be perfect for holidays, from work to night out, to keep in the office to use before functions or meetings, when you’re camping or really any place, that’s the beauty of them.

How exciting is it for HairCareShop to be mentioned in one of the biggest national glossy magazines and to have a product we stock be endorsed by as huge a star as Danni Minogue?

Freedom 24:7 Hair Straightners are available on the HairCareShop with a massive £37 off just for our valued and glossy haired customers for £59.50.

Approximately 25 percent of men begin balding by age 20 and two-thirds begin balding by age 60. It is a fairly common problem that most men afflicted by it resign themselves to. There are however a wide range of anti hair loss products which can help to reduce the on set of hair loss.

By far the most widespread form of baldness to affect men is male pattern baldness which involves hair getting progressively thinned. The hair will normally thin on the top of the head with the sides being mostly unaffected. This type of balness is known as a receding hairline and is common in men older than 20. The chances of being affected by male pattern baldness don’t change due to environmental factors and are thought to be hereditary. In some cases a bald patch will occur at the back of the top of the head. This kind of hair loss is caused by a strong sex hormone called DHT which affects the facial hair growth and in some cases the prostate.

We stock a number of anti hair loss ranges at the HairCareShop listed below.

American Crew Hair Loss Trichology

This American Crew product comes in the form of patches which are applied to the scalp and then left on overnight. The patches have been developed to create as fertile an environment as possible for hair growth by releasing ingredients that are good for hair recovery as you sleep.

Nioxin Fine Hair Kit

Nioxin are a leader in hair loss treatment. This fine hair kit has been developed for use during the early stages of thinning for either men or women. The product helps supply the scalp with the necessary nutrients it needs to grow a thick and full head of hair.

La Biosthetique Regenerant Premium

This product from La Biosthetique works by improving the hair’s life cycle. Regenerant Premium helps to extend the phase of hair growth. It also increases the amount of nutrients to the scalp and roots of hair allowing the hair to develop more volume.

Now what could possibly be better than reveling in the knowledge that you know you can eat AND have luscious hair, not only that but the two are conjoined, you can eat in order to get healthy, lovely, shiny hair. BUT, now you knew that was coming I’m afraid you are not going to have Eva Longoria style tresses on a diet of gin and cheeseburgers (not that I actually know anyone that does exist on a diet of gin and cheeseburgers, nor do I recommend it).

Nope swigging back the rose or having the odd ciggy is going to only go against you in your quest for hair success, although I know you lovely, discerning readers will no doubt already be aware of this. If you want heavenly hair, you are going to need to make wise choices, which lets face it we all proclaim to do already. “oh yes I only eat organic alfalfa sprouts and sprinkle ten quid linseed on me cornflakes.”

In order to reach the top of the mountain you have to fuel yourself with the correct things, eat the things which are meant to do the job which they are meant to do and you’ll be fine. Are you following me? Rewind I just realised I was the only one that made the slightest bit of sense to. What I’m going to do is I’m just going to tell you what you need to scoff to have, prrrrretty hair.

I’m not going to get too technical because well it’s too much work (joke) basically hair is made of protein, luscious locks step one eat protein.

“Protein provides the body with roughly 10 to 15 per cent of its dietary energy, and is needed for growth and repair (BBC).”

As mentioned protein is essential in the repair and growth of cells and without cells we are but nothing. Get some protein in you; meat (lean), eggs (not too many per week), fish and shellfish (prawns, scallops etc…). For our vegetarian friends fear not you can still get your fair share of the protein through nuts (almonds are good), pulses (quinoa – ‘keen’ ‘waa’) and seeds. Pumpkin seeds are scrumptious lightly toasted and sprinkled over your favourite salads, put them in flap jacks, put them in granola or muesli put them on home baked bread.

Hair Care Shop Recommends that after you have spent all that energy treating your hair for the inside out why not have a pamper session with some of these best sellers, specifically tailored to pamper your hair.

Hair Care Shop Recommends

Mask Vitale for damaged hair

Vamp Part 2

Hair and Outfit

Hair is what we do best at the HairCare shop so we have put our heads together and come up with a look we consider the perfect partner to your vampy festive makeup. We have decided to go for an up-do to further emphasise the sophisticated feel of the vamp trend. The tools you will need to achieve this look are – a brush, Kirby grips, hair bobble and a hair dryer, see the HairCare Shop recommends section at the end for our selected products used.

Hair

This look is perfect for second day hair as we want the hair to have a bit of texture to it to aid the final style. First of all you have to mist your hair with a hair treatment or leave-in conditioner spray, then dry your hair with the hair dryer and a diffuser attachment or if you do not have one of them just tip your head upside down andscrunch dry.

Brush your hair gently as to not lose too much of the volume and pull the hair into a low side ponytail and secure with the hair bobble.

Take a section of hair from underneath the ponytail and wrap it round with the aim of concealing the bobble, then secure with a hair grip.

Gently backcomb the lengths of the hair in the pony tail to add texture then gently smooth the hair into place following the same principle as before being careful not to lose too much of the volume.

Wrap the lengths of the hair loosely around the band as if creating a bun and secure when you are happy with the final look, you can tease some strands out at this point if you would like a more relaxed look.

The final stage is a spritz of hairspray and you could also add your own accessories here, flower, clip etc…

Give you hair a final spritz of shine spray and you are ready to go.

HairCare Shop Recommends
In order to help you achieve the perfect sexy up do for the vamp trend HairCare shop suggests the following products-

Schwarzkopf Seah Lotus Spritz Condition Spray

There is an indisputable chill in the air and it’s set to only get colder although please no, not another winter like last year! I live slightly outside of town but in the depths of last year’s winter I may as well have lived in deepest darkest Antarctica! I love the winter, I was born in December but I’m just too much of a whining girl to put up with coldness and wet and wellies and snow and the ever present fear of falling flat one ones face after stepping on a potential neck breaking patch of ice.

Anyway I digress; this article is all about winter skin care the cold weather brings with it a whole host of harsh realities your poor old skin has to face up to. Dry, flaky, distressed skin is what comes to mind when you think about winter skin and the harsh conditions it sometimes has to put up with, but fear not there are steps you can take to prevent this!

Personally I think the biggest problem for our skin in the winter months is dryness. There is nothing worse than dry skin and I speak from personal experience here; it’s uncomfortable, unsightly and it means your make up doesn’t sit properly a nightmare indeed. So step one in the winter skin care SOS is to make sure you moisturise religiously during the winter months, perhaps consider moving to a slightly more intense moisturiser. Even just at night when you have removed all of your makeup if you are worried about a more intense moisturiser making your face into an oil slick and your foundation a thing of the past.

That brings me onto my next point cleansing, I feel this is even more important during the colder season as we may replace the lack of sun and tan with a liberal slathering of foundation and bronzer. This means that cleansing is ever more important in winter, make sure you get every scrap of make up off because a break out is worth avoiding at all costs.

If you have dull dehydrated skin what’s the answer? Exfoliation of course it is vitally important to get rid of all the dead skin particles that having dry skin brings a good exfoliator will be a god send in your winter skin care kit. Exfoliate once a week or more if necessary and enjoy brighter, fresher, healthier looking skin.
During the winter season it is as always imperative that you wear sun screen, why I hear you ask? Just because you can’t see the sun and it’s not splitting the sky doesn’t mean that the harmful UVA and UVB rays aren’t present. Protect yourself and use a good sun screen all year round, it will turn out to be one of your greatest weapons in the fight against aging.

HairCare Shop Recommends

While writing this article the HairCare shop team remembered a product that some may deem as a cold weather saviour from La Biosthetique the Congestif Creme Protectrice quite a mouthful but regardlessthis product is perfect for protecting your skin this winter. if you suffer from sensitive skin or skin that is looking slightly too rosey from being battered by unforgiving winter winds then this could be the product for you.

With Methode Relaxante, La Biosthetique aims to normalise sensitive skins and promote a feeling of well-being. The intensive cream congestif protects ,calms, smoothes and regulates the superficial blood circulation responible for redness thanks to exclusive essential oils and witch hazel extracts.

This cream promotes skin well being, improves softness and protects against the harsh winter elements that are so damaging to your skin.

Also don’t forget about your poor lips in the cold weather, make sure a keep them moisturised with a good lip balm and carry it about with you at all times!

It’s Christmas! Well maybe not right now but we are getting there I know some people will be flinching after reading the first line of this article and to be honest I am too, how can it be this time of year already? This article doesn’t expect you to become overjoyed with anticipation for the big day right now, rather it is just a pointer to some of the great Christmas gifts the Hair Care Shop has to offer and some ideas of what to get family/friends/boyfriends or girlfriends this festive season. I know that many people are of the opinion how can anyone possibly be thinking about Christmas now, surely we just left summer behind a couple of weeks ago? While I think this is true I also believe it is a good idea to spread the cost of Christmas and hey when was being organised ever a bad idea. So don’t rush out and deck the halls with holly quite yet but still have a look at what Hair Care Shop has got for you this Christmas.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Mum

I don’t know about you but I actually find my mum quite difficult to buy for and I am usually quite good at remembering what people want and getting them good presents that they keep and don’t return. The fail safe gift which is always appreciated and often requested by my mum is perfume that is generally the first suggestion if I ask what gift she would like. Hair Care Shop has an extensive range of fragrances to suit all tastes and budgets, for your mum why not treat her to the Gucci Flora gift set. Flora is a beautifully sophisticated floral scent with top notes of citrus and rose and base notes of pink pepper and sandalwood. Sounds delightful I think the perfect gift for your mum.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Dad

Possibly your dad is of a certain generation where lets say skin and hair care are not at the very top of their priorities, bit of soap and water is all that is required. But, as they say it’s never too late to teach an old dog new tricks or is it the other way around? For your dad this Christmas why not treat him to a Remington 360 Series Foil Shaver; it’s functional, effective and it looks good. An electric shaver is the perfect gift option for your dad because in all seriousness when is he going to buy one himself? You know though that when you buy him it he’ll wonder how he ever coped without it. As a stocking filler drag your dear old dad into the metrosexual way of thinking (okay maybe not) even still the American Crew post shave cooling lotion is the perfect addition.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Girlfriend

Now as you may have experienced some girlfriends are lucky and happen to find themselves with men who have impeccable if not enviable taste and always give fabulous presents. The rest of us may wait in anxious trepidation to see what our other half have bought us and most of the time an accompanied shopping trip is warranted to avoid disappointment on the big day. Hair Care Shop have an expansive range of electrical styling goods, why not treat you girlfriend to a pair of the much coveted Cloud 9 straightening irons. You just know that is one gift that won’t need you practicing your; “no honestly I love them,” face in the mirror.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Boyfriend

There’s nothing better than a man that smells good, right? Well as opposed to one that stinks, ha! Guys these days love fragrance and aftershave just as much as the girlies so get your man a gift that both you and he will love! Paco Rabanne 1 Million is a great choice, with top notes of sparkling fresh fruits and peppermint and base notes of amber and sensual leather who could fail to love this for Christmas.

Whether it be a gift, a treat to ourselves or an impulse buy perfume is a stalwart of many a woman’s dressing table and a man’s eh where do guys keep their aftershave, em wherever they lob it. Generally and I am the same the critique of a new perfume takes the form of, spray, shake around for a second, sniff, hmm and the oh I love that or eww no that’s not for me. Perfumes are a multi-layered complex product that take on a distinctly chemical process when you read about he manufacturing of fragrance. This article is an introduction to the different elements of perfume and the olfactory families to which they belong.

As I just mentioned most people view perfumes as just one scent whereas in reality perfumes are made up of different layers which each last a certain amount of time and when amalgamated together produce the desired final scent. These different layers are referred to as ‘notes’ because as in music when the individual notes are put together they ‘harmonise’ to produce the final effect. There are three notes present in the case of most fragrances:

Top Notes – these are the scents which are perceived immediately on smelling the perfume, the top notes tend to be small light molecules which last on the skin for one to three hours and evaporate after that relatively quickly. The top notes of a perfume are very important as these are what you base your initial opinions of the fragrance on.

Middle Notes – the scents of the middles notes will appear just before the last of the top notes dissipates, the middle notes are essential as they form the ‘heart’ of the perfume they tend to be mellow rounded scents. The middle notes of the perfume last for a much longer time than the top notes, around eight to fifteen hours.

Base Notes – the base notes of a fragrance appear close to the dissipation of the middle notes, together with the middle notes the base notes create the main theme of the perfume and are generally not perceived until the wearer has had the fragrance on for thirty minutes. Base notes add depth to the perfume some of the most common base notes are:

amber

patchouli

sandalwood

balsam

leather

When it comes to perfume scent description, perfumes are categorised into families dependent on the elements from which the perfume is created. Here are some of the most common perfume families.

Floral Oriental – floral oriental fragrances are soft spicy and feminine these group of fragrances were first popular during the early 1900’s, before falling out of fashion in the 1930’s and a revival in the 1970’s. Perfumes in this category often have notes of flowers, woods and vanilla.

Dior Addict, Ange Ou Demon Givenchy

Citrus – citrus fragrances are rich in fruit oils and often have notes of not only lemon and orange but of also apricot and grapefruit; citrus fragrances are light, tangy and fresh.

>DKNY Be Delicious

Green – green fragrances are similar to the citrus fragrances but with a sharper edge, incorporating notes of cut grass, crushed green leaf and cucumber. Green scents are crisp and refreshing with aromatic qualities.

Elizabeth Arden, Blue Grass

Wood – fragrances in the wood family tend to have notes of ceder, leather and tobacco, they tend to be sensual fragrances which can be lightened by the introduction of citrus. Sandalwood, patchouli and cedar wood are common notes in wood based fragrances.

Ed Hardy Love & Luck

Water – this is the lightest and brightest category of all the olfactory families, scents which are fresh and summery with notes of sea air and water mixed with fresh green and citrus smells.

Davidoff Cool Water

Fruity – this perfume family houses the fruity fragrances which are not citrus based, fragrances which have notes of peach, blackberry and mango among others.

Juicy Couture EDP

Now don’t all rush or stampede at once but I think it is safe to say that your prayers have been answered.
The La Brasiliana is a Zero keratin treatment enhanced with collagen which is formulated to provide you with professional hair care. It is a natural substance which the La Brasiliana uses to transport hair back to it’s original healthy state of being shiny and smooth helps combat damage and the collagen element assists in improving the elasticity of the hair and prevents breaking.

The La Brasiliana is revolutionary but not drastic as it does not interfere with the natural molecular structure of the hair. This treatment replenishes rather that alters the hair as a result this treatment is suitable for all hair types, treated, colored , relaxed or bleached. It is also beneficial to your hair because it will lessen the amount of styling you will have to carry out therefore reducing the amount of heat damage. If you are prone to battering your locks with 200 plus degree heat then the La Brasiliana could be just what your hair is crying out for.

The process itself is not complicated, it can take anywhere between 1.5-4 hours dependent on the length and thickness of the client’s hair. The product is applied to the hair and sealed in with a 450 degree flat iron (straightener) which leaves the hair super glossy by hydrating and sealing in all the moisture. You will notice the treatments benefits straight away; this treatment is not designed to straighten your hair rather to improve the condition add maximum gloss and shine and to banish frizz even on the most miserable of rainy days we’re talking Jennifer Aniston here. The La Brasiliana keratin treatment lasts for two to four months as does not need ‘removed’ as the treatment will gradually dissipate with continued washing of the hair.

After you have the Brasiliana zero keratin treatment it is of paramount importance that you do not let your hair come into contact with and moisture for four days to ensure maximum results. Your hair will be smooth, glossy and manageable anyway as a result of the treatment so this should not be a problem. The Brasiliana will allow you to wash your hair, leave it to dry naturally and have no need to straighten or style your hair as it will dry perfect naturally; what more could you ask for?

Give the La Brasiliana a try today and you’ll never be a slave to frizz again!
