When I was a kid me and some friends found what we thought was a bottle of sun cream at the local lido and promptly covered ourselves in the stuff. It turned out it was stuff that attracted the sun. Being fair skinned I ended up looking like a red incredible hulk and suffered sun stroke for the only time in my life. It was a harsh lesson learned, but a very valuable one as I always cover up in the sun now with decent sun block and I ALWAYS read the label of any bottle!!

I was very burnt & when to a flamingo park with the family…that was my new nickname after that! as they couldn’t tell the difference with me & the flamingo’s so the children said!!

My story is something that happened to my mum. We were on a family holiday in Wales and it was one of the hottest days of the year, everyone was smothered in cream except my mum who wanted to ‘tan’! We tried telling her she’d burn, but she wouldn’t listen.
Anyway, an hour or two later she was as red as a lobster and in agony. That night she couldn’t sleep, the skin on her legs and shoulders was blistered and raw and she had to visit the doctor who I hope gave her a good telling off!

And the worst thing is she STILL sits in the sun with no protection whatever!!! Thank God the rest of her family have common sense!

Its actually my son who got the sunburn, taking him around Disney in his wheelchair,never realised just how burny the sun was, he could’nt bend his legs for 3 days. He has forgiven me by the way it was 22 years ago.

I went to majorca and suffered from prickly heat, i thought it was the sun cream causing it, boy did i learn that it wasnt, my shins were red raw!! always wear sun cream!

Being on the boat and it was a warm day but not warm enough that you would need sunscreen. Got back on land and later that evening, I was getting more red by the second. Major sun stroke and a hospital visit later!
