My sister burnt her chest so bad it was red for the whole 2 weeks and the skin peeled nearly enough to draw blood. Near the end of the week she went out in the sun again but even full block didnt stop the area from burning again!

My husband fell asleep in the sun but left his book on his chest. He ended up red with a big white square which looked daft. I told him off for becoming a lobster and ever since my son keeps going Dad can’t go swimming because hes a lobster. Not sure of that connection

Its actually my son who got the sunburn, taking him around Disney in his wheelchair,never realised just how burny the sun was, he could’nt bend his legs for 3 days. He has forgiven me by the way it was 22 years ago.

The week before my best friend’s wedding where I was chief bridesmaid I got very sunburnt on my shoulders that left very white patches. It was extremely noticable when I had to walk down the ailse and her family were not best pleased with the pictures where I look half lobster and half eskimo!

I went to majorca and suffered from prickly heat, i thought it was the sun cream causing it, boy did i learn that it wasnt, my shins were red raw!! always wear sun cream!

Being on the boat and it was a warm day but not warm enough that you would need sunscreen. Got back on land and later that evening, I was getting more red by the second. Major sun stroke and a hospital visit later!

When i was 22 I went to Kavos and being very pale was not very happy walking around like a milk bottle in my shorts. So i didnt use sun cream the first day and we spent that whole day on the beach. By 5pm i was in agony couldnt walk and spent the whole night crying with pain. In the morning it was even worse big blisters had appeared all over my legs and shoulders.

I spent my whole holiday in the shade wearing jogging pants. A week later we arrived home in england where i had to visit the hospital as my skin was so tight on my legs walking was impossible 2 weeks off work and feeling very silly.Now i dont go anywhere without suncream in my bag and have learnt to love my pale skin.

I was wearing a navy and white swimsuit on holiday in Spain. I managed to get burnt through the white stripes so I was left feeling not only uncomfortable but also looking like a tiger!

This is my best friends story,when she was about 18 years old she won a trip of a lifetime competition to fly on concord to the usa. The first stop was wasington DC for a couple of days ,followed by a week in florida. She was very much looking forward to the week in the sun lying on the beach and by the pool!

So when she arrived in florida after visiting Washington that’s exactly what she did. Now my friend had never really sunbathed before so was a bit green about suntan lotion , so didn’t put any on! she found a sunlounger layed down and promptley fell asleep ,woke up several hours later red as a lobster. She decided to go back to her hotel room and asked room service for a doctor, after a while the doctor turned up took one look at her and said she would have to stay out of the sun for the rest of her Holiday.

To cut a long story short, she ended up going home early having only been in the sun for a few hours, and not seeing anything of Florida at all .She flew home not on Concorde but on a chartered plane. That could only have happened to my friend. We still laugh about it now!

A few years ago I attended a free music festival, I hadn’t bargained on it being so hot so had no sun cream on. I didn’t actually realise I’d caught the sun till later in the day we had tickets to see an act inside the main building, I started shivering and next came the headache, and we had to leave early. Then I ralised I was burnt too and I was in absolute agony, I couldn’t sleep at all that night. It was awful, just awful
